That is the percentage of Americans that will have diabetes by the year 2050, according to research done by the CDC.  Scary, isn’t it?  Please help me make this number only a number by making small changes in your life or by helping someone you love make small changes too:

= fried to grilled, baked, or broiled

= white rice to brown rice

= whole grains instead of sugary cereals to start you or your child’s day

= for that matter, eat breakfast: it’s the most important meal of the day

= incorporate one more fruit and one more veggie into your daily diet

= switch from drinks like soda and juice to water or unsweetened tea

One positive improvement can lead to another and one baby step at a time will create a lifestyle change.  It really is much easier than you would think.

To know that my children will live in a time (and that I will live the later part of my life) when one third of our population is diagnosed with diabetes is absolutely horrifying.  Together, let’s do something about this statistic and take it into our own hands, after all, that is where the true power lies.
